WCG 2009 Preview: Group F

We have reached Group F in our pre-coverage for World Cyber Games 2009, seeing likes of mousesports, CMAX.gg, Turmoil and more.

Group F could very well be one of the groups, where a lot of upsets would take place. There are three of the five teams in the group, who all have similar chances of advancing. The group favorite would be mousesports, even though they will be using seraph as a standin for the event, as gob b is ineligible to play, due to his Turkish citizenship. The German squad has gone through a rough period, lately benching C cash Steen and bringing in Christian Blizzard Chimel into active duty.

Regardless of a rough period regarding results, mousesports will be looked as favorites in this group. The challengers are however breathing down their neck, closest would be the Russian qualification winners, now known as CMAX.gg. The team attended the Moscow qualifier for Arbalet Cup Europe this past weekend, but failed to qualify as they got defeated by EYESports in the semis. The team is however one to keep an eye on, as they have tendencies to go on a rage every now and then. The Russians would be the hardest challenger to mousesports, for the top spot in Group F.

Also a possible candidate to grab one of the two spots for the playoffs is the runner up at the American qualification, the team of Turmoil. The team attended the ESEA Invite Season 4 finals this past weekend, but failed to impress as they dropped in on 5-6th place, losing their first and only match at the event. The Americans are however capable of playing good when they have the knife on their throat, but whether they will be capable to challenge mousesports and CMAX.gg, is really one big question mark.

Sport in The Game, the Belarusian representative at World Cyber Games 2009 has been drawn into a tough group and their chances of reaching the knockout stages are very poor. They might be able to challenge the third place in the group, if they hit a good stream. The last team in the group, Indian team Makeway , will have their time to shine against a few of the international top teams, but that will about it for the team, who is expected to place bottom last in Group F.
